What do you do when something doesn’t go the way you want it to go? What do you do with that disappointment? That challenge? That failure? Yup, I’m gonna use that. The big F word. What do you do with that in your life, and how does that reflect on where you are with your level of achievement and success and finding your fulfillment in this world.
What do you with it? Answer yourself honestly. You don’t have to answer to anybody else but yourself. You have to learn to be your own best teacher. Whether it is disappointment, a mistake, a failure, no matter what it is in life, you have to make that a motivator for you. If somebody turns you down for a job, somebody turns you down for a contract, you don’t get what you asked for at Christmas time as a kid.
Anything in life that we would consider a setback. You have a choice to either be a one step forward and two steps back kind of person, or you can be it is one step forward and another step forward and another step forward kind of person. Use your failures as motivators. Use them as a way to ask yourself questions. For example, What did I do right? What could I do better? Write them down and write the answers down. Studies show, that when you write things down, it makes them concrete and helps you to answer the questions.
I want to say a bit more about “what could I do differently?” Language means everything. Not what did I do wrong. Don’t go into judgment of yourself. Now you can find the motivation and fire in your belly from those answers. You can create a new and improved plan. Use what you did before as the basis and create a new plan based on that foundation, making the tweaks to make to make it even better.
When you do that and you do that on a continual basis with everything you do, you are gonna soar. I guarantee you, you are going to soar. I want to hear about those stories when you do.
